Situated in the northeast part of Xinglong County, Mountain Wuling Scenic Area covers an area of 14,400 hectares, with its forest cover rate being 76.2%. The attractions are Xianren Tower, Lotus Pond, Yuhuang Roof, Qipan Well, Longtan Waterfall, and Wuling Inscribed Stones. It once was a forbidden place of imperial Fengshui for 260 years during the Qing Dynasty. It is reputed as “the first mountain east of Beijing” due to its charming scenes and complete, natural ecosystem. There are various plants in the park with an obvious vertical distribution. Therefore, botanists regard it as “a rare green treasure”. It was established as a national nature reserve in 1983.
